Our hearts are heavy and we are deeply saddened by the tragic events that unfolded during the Lapu-Lapu Block Party in Vancouver, Canada this past weekend.
What was intended to be a celebration to pay tribute to Lapu-Lapu— an Indigenous warrior and chieftain who successfully defeated Spanish forces led by explorer Ferdinand Magellan in the Battle of Mactan – has instead been overshadowed by an unimaginable tragedy on April 26, 2025.
We stand in solidarity with our Filipino Canadian community as they navigate this difficult time and offer our prayers, our support, and our deepest condolences to our kababayans in Vancouver.
