Chicago alumni’s drive-in movie fundraiser raised spirits for FAHM

Kicking off Filipino American History Month, FYLPRO alumni of Chicago and Asian Pop-Up Cinema on Oct. 3 raised more than $3,000 as they treated COVID-19 frontliners to a drive-in movie for the U.S. Premiere of the movie Edward.

Directed by Thop Nazareno, “Edward” is a coming of age story of a young boy stuck in a public hospital with no one else to take care of his ailing father. Caught in a place where life itself is in limbo, the boy’s careless attitude reaches a screening halt when he experiences a bittersweet incident that pushes his life into transition and will make him a man amidst chaos and heartbreaking loss.

The pre-show was headlined by award-winning recording artist and Philippine actor Boy Rose (@NarCabico), who despite the drizzle, kept spirits up and lively for the night.

Thank you to our partners Asian Pop-up Cinema, Davis Theater Chicago, Instarem, SimpleLabs and Narni Yoder and to everyone who made donations for the event.
