ABOUT THE COVID-19 RESPONSE NETWORK
In response to the growing COVID-19 global pandemic, FYLPRO mobilized its 84 alumni to provide much needed services and supports to the greater Filipino community in the United States and abroad.
The organization’s COVID-19 Task Force, chaired by Board of Director Leezel Tanglao, is identifying local and international projects that support the bodies, minds, and spirits of our kababayans, including providing medical supplies, food, housing, mental health support, J-1 Visa assistance, and other areas of need.

BOOZ ALLEN FOUNDATION INNOVATION GRANT – CARETAKER PROJECT
Booz Allen Foundation Innovation Grant awarded to FYLPRO Caretaker Project for innovative solution to pressing issue caused by COVID-19 pandemic.
The Caretaker Project fills in the gaps in services to the most vulnerable in the Filipino community. It is a virtual help desk service that will: connect Filipinos to vital services (legal, wellness), debunk misinformation and warn against fraud and scams, and improve collection of community data.
PROJECT PANANAGUTAN
In response to this crisis, employees of the Ayala group of companies, which number over 64,000 strong, created “Project Pananagutan” as an internal fundraising initiative. FYLPRO’s gift of $1,500 will go towards the ongoing campaign to provide protective personal equipment for medical front-liners and food packs for families in Metro Manila and the province of Cavite.
In partnership with Barangay Chairman, Arturo Reyes Cruz of Malibay, Pasay raised funds to deliver relief goods to 306 households and 718 families.
The relief goods included rice, sardines, noodles, local corned beef and coffee and were delivered in May.
AMERICAN CHAMBER FOUNDATION, PHILIPPINES INC
KAPWA 5K Run/WalkIn partnership with the American Chamber Foundation, Philippines Inc., the Kapwa Virtual 5K Run/Walk raised $1,200 over the course of 5 days on June 1-5, 2020. Participants ran or walked in their neighborhood, on their treadmill or in place while being mindful of social distancing.
100% of proceeds went to acquiring testing and extracting kits, medical supplies, and services to vulnerable medical workers, assigned military/police personnel, and public servants in the regions where COVID-19 testing is very low.
FILIPINO AMERICAN SERVICE GROUP INC (FASGI)
“BaliBAHAY” Box Project, Los Angeles, CAThe Filipino American Service Group Inc. (FASGI) “BalikBAHAY” Box project features a care package containing essential items that can be most helpful to essential workers and vulnerable community members. FYLPRO has awarded FASGI $2,100 to fund 175 boxes for essential workers and vulnerable community members.
KAWAYAN COLLECTIVE
BAMBOO BED PROJECTKawayan Collective which is based in Negros, Philippines has launched an effort to provide bamboo beds to COVID-19 patients around the Philippines. FYLPRO has awarded $2,000 to fund the making of 60 beds.
