SUMMARY:Workshop: Learning From Our Histories: A Virtual Community Workshop on Intergenerational Politics
DESCRIPTION:How do we talk about news and politics across generations and languages within our communities? What can we learn from our histories? In this interactive workshop\, we will share stories and narratives of political frictions and tensions within our communities. We will also build skills on how to conduct an intergenerational oral history with a loved one and discuss best practices for courageous conversations. This workshop is intended for those who self-identify as Filipinx/a/o diasporic. \nThis workshop is part of a collaborative research project between the Alliance of Filipinos for Immigrant Rights and Empowerment (AFIRE)\, the Filipino Young Leaders Program (FYLPRO) and the Tayo project\, and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
